Spring is one of my favorite times of the year.
Everything is so fresh and clean and bright—it’s as if the sun dances on the earth.
The rains are coming.
The birds are singing.
You see the flowers start popping through the soil.
I love the daffodils, crocuses, and the forsythia.
They are some of the first flowers you see here in Kentucky in the spring, and then there are the beautiful green leaves on the trees.
Ron and I made a trip to the Eastern Kentucky Mountains and you see so many different colors of greens.
The bright green leaves on the trees with the sun shining through, causes the leaves to look like a transparent green.
Then the darker green leaves of the evergreen tree adds a depth to the forest that seem to say, “Come and spend time with me, and just walk through me, and enjoy my beauty“.
We have had a lot of rain this spring. We have had some strong winds, soft winds and then a soft breeze blowing this spring.
I like to just stand outside with my face lifted to the sun, and smell the wonderful fragrance after those spring rains, and let that soft breeze blow in my face.
Standing there in the presence of God and smelling the fragrance of His creation…it is too beautiful to even try and describe it.
Fresh Anointing
To me, the above is one way to describe in the natural what can take place spiritually in the life of a spirit filled believer.
I love that scripture in Psalm 92:10 which says, “But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of a unicorn: I SHALL BE ANOINTED WITH FRESH OIL.”
Let’s look at some meanings of the words, fresh and oil. Fresh means clean and bright, spanking new and unmarked. Oil means to lubricate and smear with oil.
Many problems would be solved in the Body of Christ today if Christians had a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit upon their lives!
You see, by not maintaining a constant experience of being filled to overflowing with the Spirit, many times Christians go through problems and face trials in life they wouldn’t have to face if they were filled up with the Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18-21 (KJV) And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Be: is continuous action.
Recently, during my time in prayer, I sensed that the Holy Spirit wanted me to come into a place with Him. It seemed that there was a door closed in my life that I needed to open, and let Him in to do a deep abiding work in me.
The scripture I was praying and meditating upon was Romans 8:26 -27 (KLV) Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Groaning Within
There came from deep within me a groaning of the Holy Spirit.
It was very deep within me.
It was Him leading me in this time of praying.
From within I had a knowing that He wanted me to open a door within me that was closed off to Him.
I said to the Holy Spirit, “I open that door within me.” Even though I don’t know what it is. There was spiritual warfare taking place within me to bring me into, I know now, a fresh anointing into a deeper place within me.
Hindrance to Fresh Anointing Exposed
It says, in this scripture, that the Holy Spirit makes intercession for the saints (on this day, that would be me) according to the will of God.
I seemed to know by the Spirit of God that there was a weakness in my soul, which was a hindrance in my life.
As I continue to pray in tongues. He revealed it to be a weakness that entered into my life at a young age. It had made a breach in my soul–like a deep crevice.
I knew that my soul consists of my will, emotions, feelings and intellect; as I continued to pray in other tongues. The Holy Spirit began to pray on my feelings, and the emotions of my soul in the spirit.
Violated Feelings Opens Doors
I had a knowing that something had happened that violated: Dishonored) my feelings. Thus, affecting my emotions; therefore, causing my will to come in line with the breach. (Break)
An emotional or physical crisis can leave doors open that we must go back and close so that the enemy will not continue to hassle us in that part of our lives. We may not know what those doors are. Only the spirit of God does.
The Holy Spirit revealed that it, whatever it was, had set up a fortress—stronghold(vice-like grip) in my life to keep me from surrendering my will completely to the will of the Lord; in what He has called me to do, and fulfill for His Kingdom. I am seeing that hurt feelings (wound, damage, injure, impair), not dealt with are a weakness in a person’s life.
Healing Balm
As the Holy Spirit was interceding for me, through me; I began in English to speak out, “deep, deep within”, weakness, deep, deep within that needs to be made strong, and then in the spirit realm I saw that breach.
It looked like a cut, a wound, and I then said to the Lord, “Pour in the oil and wine of the Holy Spirit into that wound.”
Oh, that healing balm of the Lord, so that my will can line up with your will, Father. You see, I was working with the Holy Spirit in prayer for myself.
All of this had been a mystery (unknown) to me till the Holy Spirit began to reveal the hidden things. We are great at praying for others, but do we take time to pray for ourselves.
I must be honest, I have prayed very few times for myself. And, this was a first in this kind of praying.
The Holy Spirit wants to minister to our souls.
Spend some time praying over your own emotions, feelings, and your will and intellect. I am not an expert on the psychological makeup of a person. But, I do know a little about my soul.
The Great Anointer
The Holy Spirit is the Great Anointer.
He wanted to bring healing to me and into a fresh anointing to do a work for Him in a greater way.
I had to allow Him to give me that freshness by presenting myself in prayer, for myself, for Him to bring it about. He wants to do that for you as well.
The word “anoint” used primarily in the Old Testament Septuagint and the Greek New Testament comes from the Greek word chrio. This word originally denoted the smearing or rubbing of oil or perfume upon an individual.
For example, when I go to my message therapist because I have sore muscles, she pours fragrant oil upon her own hands; then she begins to deeply rub that oil into my sore muscles.
That penetrating oil denotes this Greek word Chrio. This word “anoint” has to do with the
rubbing or smearing of oil upon someone.
Let us consider this concept in the context of God anointing our lives. As I entered into that place of prayer for myself this particular morning; God Himself, that Great Anointer, filled His hands with the essence of the Spirit, and then laid His mighty hands upon my life, pressing the Spirit’s power and anointing ever deeper into me—into those injured deep crevices bringing healing.
I had sensed I needed freshness in my life. What was the hindrance Lord? I didn’t know what it was. I had a strong desire to pray, and I had to press into it. With questions like, “What is it, Lord?” As I yielded to the Holy Spirit’s intercession, He began to intercede for me, in the Spirit.
So when we speak of a person who is anointed, we are actually acknowledging that the hand of God is on that person. I believe this anointing comes through much prayer. The strong presence of the anointing that we see or feel is a signal to let us know that God’s hand is personally resting on that individual’s life.
Therefore, if you would like a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit upon your life, you must come before the Great Anointer! He alone can give you what you need. Open your heart to God, and allow Him to lay His hand upon your life in a new way. I guarantee you, a strong anointing will follow!
Do you desire that fresh anointing in your life? The Holy Spirit is the Great Intercessor, the Great Anointer! I love to have a continual flow of the fresh rain of the Holy Spirit in my life. I know you do as well.
This is my experience. Your experience may not happen the way the Holy Spirit worked with me. Just yield to Him, and let Him lead you in the way that He works for, and with you. I believe that there is a deep abiding anointing that lies within the well of your salvation. It is on the inside of you. I believe as you yield to the Holy Spirit in prayer. He will bring it forth out of the depths of you.
Pray this prayer — Lord, I am asking You as I yield to you that you bring me into a brand-new place today. Rub the oil of Your Spirit deep into my life — and let the powerful fragrance of the anointing be felt, sensed, and seen by others who are near me. I want to carry your power and demonstrate the aroma of Your Presence, so if I need to come aside and yield myself to the Great Intercessor to intercede with groanings that cannot be uttered just for me. Teach me Lord; lead me into that special time with you. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen!
